1st X1 248 - 9 v Sheffield Collegiate 272 for 3

After winning the toss, Collegiate made first use of ideal batting conditions. United got off to a superb start restricting their local rivals to 9-2 off 10 overs. This brought Ed McKenna and Steve Clarke to the crease who both showed what a good batting pitch it was and both amassed centuries. Collegiate closed their innings on a daunting 272-3.

An early mix up in running saw United lose Nat Smallpiece, however fellow opener went on to crash 48 in double quick time. This gave the United innings real momentum and with Trower (68) and Longhurst (76) at the crease needing 90 runs for victory United looked favourites. However a good second spell from opener Andy Wylie made a United win unlikely, and we were left 24 runs short and had to settle for 2 points.
