1st X1 105 all out v Harrogate 107 for 3
Last week United met title contenders Harrogate at Bawtry Road. Trower making his debut as captain started things off well after winning the toss and deciding to bat first on what looked to be a good pitch.
This to be honest was the first and last bit of good news for the home side, as wickets tumbled regularly. Opener James Osmond top scored for United with a useful 30 as United finished their innings with a disappointing 105 all out giving Harrogate an additional 6 overs to chase down the total.
In response United got off to a dream start taking 2 wickets for just 8 runs in 10 overs. With Jon Inglis and Vic Craven back in the pavillion United did start to think there was a real upset on the cards, however a well manufactured 50 from Alexis Twigg, supported by 30 not out from K. Butt steered Harrogate home to a 7 wicket victory.
Out of the last three games United has lost two and had one game abandoned, we therefore need two good results this weekend against Cleethorpes and Doncaster to get ourselves back onto winning ways.
