1st X1 165 All out v Sheffield Collegiate 219-5

On a testing wicket that aided bowling, United won the toss and inserted Collegiate. With the loss of Kettlebrough, Gaywood and McKenna all for modest scores United looked to have Collegiate in real trouble. A dogged 50 from Charlie Wall and a quick fire 80 from captain Jim Tasker gave the visitors a challenging total.

In response United got off to the worst possible start with the loss of Barlow with out scoring. A good partnership from Longhurst (30) and Trower (44) took the score to 120 for 2, and United looked to be cruising. The loss of Longhurst and good spells of spin bowling from Tasker and Rob Barlow made the task increasingly difficult for the new batsmen. United closed their innings at 165 all out.
