1st X1 172-7 v Cleethorpes 171-9

United travelled to Chichester Road on Saturday to face Cleethorpes. The game proved to be a nail biter right to the winning runs being hit, with United securing 6 points with the help of an impressive innings from Alex Osmond.

Stand in captain, Matt King won the toss and inserted Cleethorpes, this proved a good decision as none of the Cleethorpes batters looked comfortable with the exaggerated side ways movement. Unfortunately United could not get all ten wickets but did well to restrict them to 171-9. The pick of the bowlers being Tom Fletcher with 4-43 off 23 overs well supported by Andrew Plummer with 3-25.

In reply United got off to a shaky start losing James Osmond and Neil Longhurst cheaply. Looking in real trouble at 63-6, Alex Osmond produced a match winning innings of 69 to snatch victory away from his old club. Alex was well supported by Rob Taylor (20) and Matt King (22).
