1st X1 211-9 v Barnsley 138 all out

As always the pitch was a 'shirt fronter', which is always the case at Bawtry Rd!! This was seemingly known by everyone apart from Barnsley captain Richard Wilkinson, who won the toss and surprisingly inserted United. This continues Martin's poor form with the coin, who has now managed to lose 4 out of 5 tosses. United got off to a solid start, reaching 38 for the loss of the first wicket. As the new ball began to soften, conditions for batting become easier and easier. John Trower scored 52, Neil Longhirst 38 and James Osmond 36 as United reached 211 for 9 from their 55 overs. Richard Wilkinson was the pick of the Barnsley attack with match figures of 4-61.

In reply Barnsley never looked comfortable, as wickets fell on a regular basis. The only resistance came from Joe Ellis 31 and Chris Speed 23 as Barnsley were bowled out for just 138. Old faithful Tom Fletcher miserly as ever with 5-44 and 'pop gun' Plummer with 4-47.
