Experience of Barlow proves too strong for Academy The 1st XI started the season off positively with a convincing win over the Yorkshire Academy. Put into bat first on a green seaming wicket, Sheffield United's openers grafted their way to 203 for 8. Barlow lead from the front with a well-made 74, supported with a quick fire 39 from Andrew Plummer on debut and 35* from John Trower. Chasing 204 for victory the Yorkshire Academy never looked comfortable and were finally dismissed for 132, the wickets were deservedly spread around the bowlers with Rob Taylor, Tom Fletcher, Tom Steel and Neil Longhurst all having healthy returns.
